ANDRZEJ WAJDA
KINOTEKA Online Exclusive Video: ANDRZEJ WAJDA ON CENSORSHIP
One of the fondest memories of the KINOTEKA 6th Polish Film Festiwal was Censorship as a Creative Force at The Barbican, a once-in-a-lifetime discussion between Istvan Szabo, Jiri Menzel and Agnieszka Holland about art's greatest enemy - and inspiration. (Please take a look at our KINOTEKA HIGHLIGHTS gallery for photos from this sold-out event.)
Agnieszka Holland had kindly stepped in for Andrzej Wajda in the last minute, since Mr. Wajda could not travel to London for medical reasons.
But the great director of the 2008 Oscar nominated KATYN gave the audience a special treat: in a 10-minute video recorded exclusively for KINOTEKA, he shared some rare insights and stories on filmmakers' lives and struggles under the Communist regime.
Now you can watch this informative, surprising and even funny video online, right here, on kinoteka.org.uk. Sit back, enjoy and remember to keep that umbrella close at hand:
